Waikamoi Flume Replacement Project

Global Specialty Contractors was selected by the County of Maui to replace the historic Waikamoi Flume, a 1.1-mile water diversion system on the steep slopes of Haleakala at 4,500 feet elevation. The original redwood structure, built over 100 years ago, had deteriorated beyond repair. Our team reconstructed the 5,800-foot-long flume system entirely out of aluminum, delivering all materials by hand or helicopter due to the rugged terrain. Completed ahead of schedule, this $11.5 million project earned multiple awards, including the ASCE Hawaii Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award and ACEC Hawaii Grand Conceptor Award.
